What's new in 0.2 — you strike the ball, in 3D
- There is no bar any more; the ball is the interface. Every chance is a
3D scene — a pitch, a goal, a keeper — with one input: you click the ball. The ball is
pushed away from where you strike it, like a ball squirming off the side of a cue:
hit the left side and it bends right, hit the right side and it bends left, dead centre and
it flies straight at the keeper. Strike it cleanly, too — catching the top or bottom edge,
or the very edge of it, scuffs the shot.
- New in 0.2.1 — two things you could feel: the moving ball was far too
quick to hit (it now crosses in about two seconds instead of half a second, and the strike
window is longer), and the strike direction was reversed — the ball used to follow the way
you pushed it instead of bending away from the contact. Both measured before and after.
- Deadballs and moving balls. A pass sits with you and you can strike it
whenever you like. A shot or a tackle is a ball coming at you: you have a couple of seconds
to hit it as it arrives, and if you never connect, that is a miss.
- The gap you can see is the gap you can score in. The keeper covers a
band of the goal and is drawn exactly where the game says it is. Corners are meant to be
reachable — bending the ball in with a clean side contact is a good strike, not a
scuff.
- Measured over 45 whole careers, not guessed. A perfect hand scores
about what the simple match's own roll does, an expert tap lands within about a fifth of
it, a decent one about a third, a sloppy one a tenth — and every step up in skill scores
more, with no plateau. Your attributes make it easier to be precise; they never decide the
outcome.
- Prefer it simple? The Mode button in the match header switches
back to picking an intent and letting the game roll it.
- A half-chance still cannot be scored from, however good your input, so the goals you get
are the goals the game was balanced around.

How it plays
- Every week you spend energy: train, see your partner, do media, rest, or take a
holiday. Then you play the fixture — and you play the key moments yourself, striking the
ball in a 3D scene, or switching to a simple match and letting the game roll them.
- Keep the five meters up. Let one collapse and it has consequences: the manager
drops you, your partner leaves, a sponsor walks. Rebuild it with time.
- Clubs are promoted and relegated around you. Play well, get noticed, take the
transfer — or carry your own club up the divisions.
- Retire when you are ready (33+) or when your body decides (38). Your legacy score
counts goals, appearances, the highest division you reached and honours — not just
the money.
